In a bid to foster the growth of local communities and bolster small town business sectors, the local government is calling for increased financial support for Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs).

With an emphasis on empowering these small businesses, the authorities aim to create a thriving environment that will yield numerous benefits for both the economy and the community.

Recognizing the untapped potential of the local small business community and the role it plays in the town’s economic stability, the local government has identified the need for increased financial support.

Mayor, Dr Gustav Bock asserts that fostering the growth of SMMEs is of utmost importance to the town’s overall development. ‘‘By investing in the development of SMMEs, we are essentially investing in our community’s future,’’ Mayor Bock explains. ‘‘Supporting local businesses not only boosts our economy but also strengthens the social fabric of our town by creating jobs and bringing in new opportunities.’’

In pursuing this vision, the local government plans to establish a comprehensive framework aimed at nurturing the growth of SMMEs across various industries.

The framework includes targeted financial incentives, mentorship programs, and the streamlining of bureaucratic processes to facilitate small business operations.

The ultimate goal is to create a thriving small town business sector that not only sustains local entrepreneurs but also attracts investors. Mayor Bock envisions a transformed local economy with a diverse array of successful businesses.

Our aim is to make Namaqualand a hub of entrepreneurship and economic activity,’’ Mayor Bock declares. ‘‘We want our town to be known as a place where dreams come true for aspiring small business owners, and where the local economy thrives through home-grown initiatives.’’
